Armed Suspects Rob Burlingame Bank
CBS 5 CrimeWatch

Authorities were seeking three suspects in connection with a bank robbery Friday afternoon in Burlingame, police said.

Two men entered the US Bank at 1188 El Camino Real at about 11:50 a.m.

Police said one of the suspects jumped over the teller counter, brandished a silver handgun and took an undisclosed amount of cash from two teller drawers.

It is unknown if the second suspect, who remained on the customer side of the counter, was armed, police said. No customers were in the bank during the robbery and none of the three employees was injured.

The suspects then left the bank and met a third person who drove them away in a red 1992 Chevy Suburban, police said.

Officers recovered the vehicle, which had been reported stolen out of Pittsburg, in the 1000 block of Paloma Avenue. The suspects remained at large.

Police described the two suspects who went into the bank as black men in their 20s and 30s, both wearing jackets with hoods and blue jeans. No description of the third suspect was immediately available.

Still great police work....

Burbank police nab three suspected bank robbers
By Jerry Berrios, Staff Writer
Updated: 09/25/2009 04:42:41 PM PDT

BURBANK - Forget the make-believe action flicks filmed inside those Burbank sound stages.

Burbank police dealt with their own real-life drama Friday morning when, officials say, three teenagers disguised as UPS drivers robbed the Citizens Business Bank at 4100 W. Alameda Ave. The trio then led police on a chase that ended with a freeway crash, attempted carjacking and a foot pursuit in neighborhoods near Highland Avenue and the Hollywood Freeway.

"It was something right out of the movies," said Burbank Police Sgt. Robert Quesada.

The suspects - males ages 19, 17 and 16 - walked in the the bank about 10 a.m., and yelled, "Everybody down on the floor," Quesada said.

Two of the suspects grabbed an employee and forced her to open the bank's vault, he said. Other employees called police while the suspects robbers shoved an undetermined amount of cash into bags.

Police arrived as the suspects - decked out in the brown uniform of the package-delivery service - came out of the bank and fled in a silver Lexus, Quesada said.

An officer reported seeing an explosion inside the luxury car - possibly the combustible dye packs placed in the bank bags to help identify bank robbers and their loot.

Police followed the Lexus as it drove erratically past the film studios, crashing into vehicles including an unmarked police car, he said.

With authorities in pursuit, the suspects entered the southbound 101 Freeway at Barham Boulevard, but soon crashed their car, Quesada said.
While two of the suspects ran toward a residential neighborhood, the third tried to unsuccessfully carjack a vehicle on the northbound freeway.

With the help of LAPD officers and air support, the three suspects were arrested about a half-hour after the incident began, Quesada said.

The trio was taken to a nearby hospital, where one was treated for heat exhaustion, Quesada said. No other injuries were reported.

Kenneth Hammond, 19, of Torrance, was arrested on suspicion of robbery, kidnapping, and attempted carjacking. He was being held in lieu of $100,000 bail at the Burbank Jail.

The 16 and 17-year-olds, both of Los Angeles, were arrested on suspicion of robbery, kidnapping and other charges. Their names were not released because they are juveniles.

The FBI also responded and may pursue federal charges, pending its investigation, Quesada said.

Love it when I see a correction, good job guys, Are these the same gangsters/ serial bandits that hit South Bay dozen times and Union Bank, Hesperia 2 days ago or just another 'set' of the LA Crips.

Trust me....I worked for Bank of America for over 25 years. They can sugar coat this one all they want, but that manager truly thought in her heart of hearts that she was doing the right thing. Knowing that organization as I do....she also continually fears for her job too and was scared to death that a district administrator or someone above her might be dropping by for a surprise visit that day....and heaven forbid if he saw a couple of U.S. Flags sitting on the sidewalk out in front. Back in the early 90's during the Gulf War I was working in a branch of B of A in Central California. One day the district administator paid us a surprise visit. He asked one of my co-workers to remove something she had pinned to her dress. Confused and in tears she said "But, my son is fighting overseas right now, this is to honor him". The cold S_ _ told her that "he didn't care what her son was doing". He told her to remove that item immediately and that things "like that" should never be worn during banking hours, they are just too controversial. Oh....the item she had to remove was a tiny little American Flag pin, maybe 1/4 inch or smaller. No extra wording on it....no extra pictures....nothing, just that tiny pin. One of the things I don't understand is why, when Bank of America merged with Nation's Bank and they decided to change their logo....take a look at it....it looks like an abstract American Flag...what's that all about?? When I first went to work for Bank of American in the late 60's and it was at that time a California based bank and it was even during the Vietnam War....each branch had two flag poles out in front. One for the American Flag one for the California Flag. Each morning we put them up and then took them down at the end of the day. My how things have changed!! Trust me....taking those flags down was no mistake....that IS their bank policy. That poor lady feared for her job and sincerly thought she was doing the right thing...as far as her beloved employer goes.

Three suspects are under arrest after attempting to rob a Bank of America in Burbank Friday morning, said Lt. John Dilibert of the Burbank Police Department.

Police received the call about the robbery at the bank at 4100 West Olive at about 10 a.m. Friday, Dilibert said.

The die packs went off as the suspected robbers were fleeing the bank, Dilibert said.

A car chase ensued on the 101 Freeway and eventually all three robbers were arrested, he said.

Received numerous reader comment/e-mails at bank211s@aim.com accusing me of being a " Right Wing, pendejo,Racist" for posting the BOA / Flag scandal and referring to past posting on this website with details from considerable research earlier this year.
Wonder how many U.S. Government workers, Military, Federal,State businesses are closing accounts with BOA?
Appears the Banking Cartels are breaking ranks on the American Flag Conspiracy by placing American Flag orders from manufactures by the 10s of thousands, both outdoor and small flags for customer giveaways.

Bank of America Draws Fire for Pulling U.S. Flags From Property
When a South Carolina woman tried to honor her next door neighbor, a Marine who was recently in Afghanistan, by planting flags along the route the casket would follow, a Bank of America branch manager pulled the flags from the bank's property, citing "corporate policy."
FOXNews.com

With a name like Bank of America, it was particularly surprising when a branch manager in South Carolina ordered the removal of a U.S. flag honoring a fallen soldier from the bank's property.
Brenda Earls of Gaffney, S.C., tried to honor her next-door neighbor, Marine Lance Cpl. Christopher Fowlkes, who was recently killed by a roadside bomb in Afghanistan, by planting flags along the route the casket would follow. But a Bank of America branch manager pulled the flags from the bank's property, citing "corporate policy."
Bank of America, which has received $45 billion in federal loans as part of the government rescue of the financial industry, apologized for the incident, calling it a "terrible mistake."
"We want to ensure the community knows how deeply proud we are of the men and women who have sacrificed so much in service to our country," the bank said in a written statement. "The bank does fly the American flag at our locations throughout the country and flags were displayed in front of our banking center in Gaffney the evening prior to our dedicated Marine returning home. We deeply apologize for any misunderstandings."
But customers already have begun canceling their accounts in protest.
Earls and Cherokee County Council closed its account, costing the bank reportedly $500,000. If all city officials follow suit, it will cost the bank $1.5 million in deposits.
Earls said the bank's apology was misdirected.
"I think who needs the apology is not me (or) the community, but the family and this young solider who gave his life for us so we all have these freedoms," she told FOX News. "We need to say we're sorry for this young man who gave his life that someone would understand a policy that they could not fly the American flag yet they would send our young people to fight over there in a war."
Earls said she watched Fowlkes, 20, grow up in her neighborhood. Planting the flags, she said, was the least she could do to honor him.
But when she placed one on Bank of America's property, a branch manager ran out of the bank and told her she couldn't do it, she said
"You mean the American flags?" Earls recalled responding.
The manager said policy prohibits the bank from flying any flag, including the American flag.
Earls said the manager told her that the flags might offend some customers.
"The American flags?" Earl recalled saying in utter disbelief.
"This is a financial institution and this is our policy," Earls recalled the manager saying.
While Earls expressed relief that the bank is now flying the American flag, she added, "That one moment in time when they took them down is a sad moment in America."
Larry Di Rita, a spokesman for Bank of America, told FOX News that the incident was a "mistake" that was quickly rectified.
"We apologized to the people involved," he said.
But Di Rita wouldn't say whether the bank has offered apologies to the Fowlkes family.
"We're going to respect the family's privacy and I'm not going to discuss that. Our condolences are to the family and the community of Gaffney. "
Di Rita added that the incident doesn't reflect any policy of Bank of America.
"The fact is we encourage branches to fly the American flag," he said. "We have over 6,000 branches across the country and they do."
Please continue to Part 2

Bank's Blatant Lie Re: American Flag 9-23-09 Part 2

Editor Comment... During the past year I have addressed the total lack of respect of the Banking Cartels have for American Flag by flagrantly refusing to display in the proper manner, or any manner, on the empty flag poles in front of the bank. I have been told by bank managers and employees, in a flippant manner, "American Flag, call our toll free number and ask for the person in charge of flags".
I continued to purse this issue on this website; 9-7 / 9-6 / 7-7 /4-26 and this posting on April 19, 2009. If this is the attitude of Banking Corporations I want my 700 Billion$ back and sincerely hope the news media, elected officials and Joe Six-Pack take notice and stand up for America.

HESPERIA • Officials are searching for two armed robbers who entered the Union Bank on Main Street in Hesperia on Tuesday morning and made off with an undisclosed amount of money, according to San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department officials.

The two masked men, each armed with handguns, entered the bank and demanded money at about 10:08 a.m. as customers were inside, said Roxanne Walker, spokeswoman for the Hesperia sheriff’s station.

The robbers jumped into a black Jeep Cherokee and sped off in the direction of Hesperia Road.

Paramedics were called to the bank for an elderly woman with chest pain.

Officials are still searching for the men and ask that anyone who may have information about the incident contact the Hesperia station at 947-1500 or call WeTip at (800) 78-CRIME. WeTip informants may be eligible for up to $1,000

Couple of readers are correct; banks don't care about cash loss (it's taxpayer bailout money), but what measures does the bank take to prevent ex-con gangster crackheads from entering the bank with fingers on the trigger and knocking Grandma to the floor.
Seems like last major take-over was at first of year at Chase Bank in Victorville but with AK-47 assault rifles.

Below is reader letter to his bank... little tongue 'n cheek.

My Dear Bank Manager,

I am writing to thank you for bouncing the check with which I endeavored to pay my plumber last month. By my calculations, some three nano-seconds must have elapsed between his presenting the cheque and the arrival in my account of the funds needed to honor it. I refer, of course, to the automatic monthly deposit of my entire salary, an arrangement which, I admit, has only been in place for eight years. You are to be commended for seizing that brief window of opportunity and also for debiting my account by way of penalty for the inconvenience I caused your bank. My thankfulness springs from the manner in which this incident has caused me to rethink my errant financial ways. You have set me on the path of fiscal righteousness. No more will our relationship be blighted by these unpleasant incidents, for I am restructuring my affairs in 1999, taking as my model the procedures, attitudes and conduct of your very own bank. I can think of no greater compliment and I know you will be excited and proud to hear it. To this end, please be advised about the following changes. First, I have noticed that whereas I personally attend to your telephone calls and letters, when I try to contact you I am confronted by the impersonal, ever-changing, prerecorded, faceless entity which your bank has become.

From now on I, like you, choose only to deal with a flesh and blood person. My mortgage and loan repayments will, therefore and hereafter, no longer be automatic, but will arrive at your bank by personal check, addressed personally and confidentially to an employee of your branch, whom you must nominate. You will be aware that it is an offense under the Postal Act for any other person to open such an envelope. Please find attached an Application for Contact Status which I require your chosen employee to complete. I am sorry it runs to eight pages, but in order that I know as much about him or her as your bank knows about me, there is no alternative. Please note that all copies of his/her medical history must be countersigned by a notary public and that the mandatory details of his/her financial situation (income, debts, assets and liabilities) must be accompanied by documented proof. In due course, I will issue your employee with a PIN number which he/she must quote in all dealings with me. I regret that it cannot be shorter than 28 digits but, again, I have modeled it on the number of button presses required to access my account balance on your phonebank service. As they say, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

Let me level the playing field even further, by introducing you to my new telephone system, which you will notice is very much like yours. My Authorized Contact at your bank, the only person with whom I will have any dealings, may call me at any time and be answered by an automated voice. By pressing the buttons on the phone, he/she will be guided through an extensive set of menus:

* 1) to make an appointment to see me,
* 2) to query a missing repayment,
* 3) to make a general complaint or inquiry and so on.

The contact will then be put on hold, pending the attention of my automated answering service. While this may on occasion involve a lengthy wait, uplifting music will play for the duration. This month I have chosen to use the refrain from The Best of Woody Guthrie: "Oh the banks are made of marble With a guard at every door And the vaults are filled with silver That the miners sweated for!" After twenty minutes of that, our mutual contact will probably know it by heart.

On a more serious note, we come to the matter of cost. As your bank has often pointed out, the ongoing drive for greater efficiency comes at a cost-- a cost which you have always been quick to pass on to me.

Let me repay your kindness by passing some costs back to you. First, there is the matter of advertising material you send me. This I will read for a fee of $2 per page. Inquiries from your nominated contact will be billed at $5 per minute of my time spent in response. Any debits to my account, as, for example, in the matter of the penalty for the dishonored check, will be passed back to you. My new phone number service runs at 75 cents per minute (even Woody Guthrie doesn't come free), so keep your inquiries brief and to the point. Regrettably, but again following your example, I must also levy an establishment fee to cover the setting up of this new arrangement.

I wish you a happy, if ever-so-slightly less prosperous, New Year.

HAVE A GREAT DAY!
Your loyal client,

Just another one of the epidemic of Terrorist Bank robberies in Calif., but this one made the papers, interesting that this is one of the financial institutions,"Rumored",to downgrade the little security they now have to ZERO; eliminating Access Control Doors that would prevent weapons inside banks, security guards, bandit barriers, dye packs but dusting off security cameras to take better photos of guns to customer and employees head.

Just a Break from Death,Rape & Robberies
Mike Alerich, Editor

The Criminal Darwins are out!!!!

Yes, it's that magical time of year again when the Darwin Awards are
bestowed, honoring the least evolved among us.

Here is the glorious winner:

1. When his 38 caliber revolver failed to fire at his intended victim during
a hold-up in Long Beach , California would-be robber James Elliot did
something that can only inspire wonder. He peered down the barrel and tried
the trigger again. This time it worked.

And now, the honorable mentions:

2. The chef at a hotel in Switzerland lost a finger in a meat cutting
machine and after a little shopping around, submitted a claim to his
insurance company. The company expecting negligence sent out one of its men
to have a look for himself. He tried the machine and he also lost a finger.
The chef's claim was approved.

3. A man who shoveled snow for an hour to clear a space for his car during a
blizzard in Chicago returned with his vehicle to find a woman had taken the
space. Understandably, he shot her.

4. After stopping for drinks at an illegal bar, a Zimbabwean bus driver
found that the 20 mental patients he was supposed to be transporting from
Harare to Bulawayo had escaped. Not wanting to admit his incompetence, the
driver went to a nearby bus stop and offered everyone waiting there a free
ride. He then delivered the passengers to the mental hospital, telling the
staff that the patients were very excitable and prone to bizarre fantasies..
The deception wasn't discovered for 3 days.

5. An American teenager was in the hospital recovering from serious head
wounds received from an oncoming train. When asked how he received the
injuries, the lad told police that he was simply trying to see how close he
could get his head to a moving train before he was hit.

6. A man walked into a Louisiana Circle-K, put a $20 bill on the counter,
and asked for change. When the clerk opened the cash drawer, the man pulled
a gun and asked for all the cash in the register, which the clerk promptly
provided. The man took the cash from the clerk and fled, leaving the $20
bill on the counter. The total amount of cash he got from the drawer... $15.
[If someone points a gun at you and gives you money, is a crime committed?]

7. Seems an Arkansas guy wanted some beer pretty badly.. He decided that
he'd just throw a cinder block through a liquor store window, grab some
booze, and run. So he lifted the cinder block and heaved it over his head at
the window. The cinder block bounced back and hit the would-be thief on the
head, knocking him unconscious. The liquor store window was made of
Plexiglas. The whole event was caught on videotape.

8. As a female shopper exited a New York convenience store, a man grabbed
her purse and ran. The clerk called 911 immediately, and the woman was able
to give them a detailed description of the snatcher. Within minutes, the
police apprehended the snatcher. They put him in the car and drove back to
the store. The thief was then taken out of the car and told to stand there
for a positive ID. To which he replied, "Yes, officer, that's her. That's
the lady I stole the purse from."

9. The Ann Arbor News crime column reported that a man walked into a Burger
King in Ypsilanti , Michigan at 5 A.M., flashed a gun, and demanded cash.
The clerk turned him down because he said he couldn't open the cash register
without a food order. When the man ordered onion rings, the clerk said they
weren't available for breakfast. The man, frustrated, walked away. [*A
5-STAR STUPIDITY AWARD WINNER]

10. When a man attempted to siphon gasoline from a motor home parked on a
Seattle street, he got much more than he bargained for. Police arrived at
the scene to find a very sick man curled up next to a motor home near
spilled sewage. A police spokesman said that the man admitted to trying to
steal gasoline, but he plugged his siphon hose into the motor home's sewage
tank by mistake. The owner of the vehicle declined to press charges saying
that it was the best laugh he'd ever had.

Hingham Savings Bank on Whiting Street (WBZ-TV)

Brazen bank robbery in Hingham ........." Daddy, what kind of flag is that in front of bank?"

M.L.

Hingham (WBZ Newsroom) -- Hingham police and the FBI are investigating a robbery at the Hingham Savings Bank on Whiting Street and say it may be connected to some South Shore hold-ups.

The suspects gained entry through a back door by first cutting the power lines to the bank's alarm system and then to the floodlights in the parking lot, police say.

Once inside, police say they managed to open the bank's vault and steal what they describe as "a large amount of money."
They also tried to force open an ATM machine in the lobby without success, police say.

Lt. Michael Peraino says it looks like a "professional" job and the robbers "knew what they were doing."

"Entering a bank at night and pulling this off is something I don't remember in Hingham, and I've been here 31 years," he said.

June Jackson, who works at a neighboring business, agreed.

"This almost looks professional, not a nickle-and-dime job or the kids up the street," she told WBZ-TV. .... (Try YACS)

It's unclear whether investigators have surveillance video to give them a clearer picture of what happened inside, or whether the lines that were cut affected that as well

Seems like more guns in Banks last week than in Mexico, violent take-overs on the increase.
64 bank 211s last week across the country, no one is immune, but judging by comments from readers (bank employees) Banks are becoming concerned that customers are asking questions regarding lack of security measures. Maybe this will be a wake-up call if they think this will affect their billion $ profit margin.
